The Money School of Boston, Inc. (MSOB) was founded by Hal Chorney in 1984. He is the only principal remaining and currently serves as president and director.
Non-Profit Educational Mission
MSOB is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational entity. This public charity provides factual information on tangible and intangible investments for individuals to acquire a higher level of knowledge, skills, and specialization in their chosen area of interest.

Financial Privacy and Consumer Protection
To further this cause, MSOB presents programs and facilitates the publishing of documents to increase the awareness and preservation of financial privacy by:
- Improving laws to better protect the best interests of the American consumer/investor.
- Strengthening regulatory efforts to safeguard the American consumer/investor.
- Causing the financial products and services industry to be more accountable to the American consumer/investor.
Awards and Recognition
It has given awards to various individuals who have contributed to the purpose of this corporation. Recipients of this award have included Congressman Eugene J. Keogh for his lifelong contributions to retirement programs, Congressman Edward J. Markey, a consumer champion, Loren Dunton, founder of the Financial Planning industry and the National Center for Financial Education, Forrest Wallace Cato, author and co-founder of the National Center for Bankruptcy Accountability, and Hal Chorney for advocating consumer education.
