Our History

Cumberland Investment Corporation was founded in Rhode Island in 1968, beginning in a modest 700-square-foot store. In 1983, the company expanded into a 5,000-square-foot location on the ground floor of the State Street Bank Building in Boston.

In 2017, the company relocated to Florida, where both Cumberland Investment Corporation and The Money School of Boston are now headquartered.

Meet Hal Chorney

Hal Chorney is the CEO of Cumberland Investment Corporation and a graduate of Brown University, an Ivy League institution. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Captain and flying 37 missions.

Over the years, Hal has built a reputation as an expert in portable wealth and high-end collectibles, specializing in rare coins, currency, precious metals, jewelry, and other tangible assets. His decades of experience and extensive work with clients have made him a trusted resource for individuals seeking to buy, sell, or appraise valuable collections.

Hal has also been featured in Marquis Who's Who in America, recognizing his longstanding contributions to his industry.
